Want to be a success in Affiliate Marketing in 2012 and beyond?

Yes of course you do. Then you need MEAT. No, no, no it’s not the edible variety. So you Vegetarians and Vegans can relax. No, let me explain, MEAT stands for:

MENTOR

If you are serious and don’t want to waste a lot of time figuring out this business then you need a Mentor. A Mentor is very often an expert. Someone who has walked the path, sounds a bit like a Jedi, that you are on at this very moment. That person has most likely been where you are now, maybe you are struggling to make sense of all this stuff. All the things that you have to have in place. The order in which you have to put these things in place. The things that are really necessary to have to be successful. They will help you to cut through the hype and guide you keep you on the path, told you…. Jedi. A Mentor will also advise you on the education that you really need or more often educate you on what you need themselves. You could be banging your head against a wall or crying with frustration, stuck on something. A couple of words from your Mentor and in no time at all you have solved the problem.

Education

These are the important things that we need to learn to be successful. This list can be endless here are just a few off the top of my head: Buying a Domain Name, Building a web site, setting up a Blog, Writing sales copy, Content writing, Relationship building, Affiliate Marketing Internet Marketing, Social Marketing etc etc. There is so much to learn, mean while your are being bombarded with adverts and more and more marketing message which probably means that you are most definitely suffering from information overload. As I suggested earlier your Mentor will be able to guide you through this maze.

Application

It it no good getting a Mentor getting educated and then not using it. You have to apply what you’ve learnt. You have to put the lessons into practice. There are a lot of people out there who spend good money buying this training course then the next newest greatest training course, according to the sales copy, then the next and never ever do anything with it. If you are one of those people then you need to STOP right now. I’m just as guilty as the next person, I’ve done this in the past. Then It suddenly dawned on me how much money I was throwing away. And yes you are throwing good money away If you don’t put all of this education to good use.

Tenacity

Yep, what a fabulous word. It sounds better that trying but that is what you have to do keep trying and trying until you succeed. What’s that old saying “if at first you don’t succeed try and try again” And I my case again and again and again. Here in that UK we have this thing, almost a stigma about failure. But in the USA it is different. It is almost like it’s not worth it unless you’ve failed a couple of times. Look at Steve Jobs. I think that is a great attitude, and I also think that it is one that we should adopt. So you’ve got to keep trying. If you suffer a set back, as the song goes, you just get right up dust yourself off and start right over again. Ah but I would add something to that. Hopefully you have learned from your failure and will not make the same mistake again.

Ed.

Once again thanks for stopping by. I would love to hear your thoughts and comments too so if you feel that you have anything to add then please do. Also if you have any questions that you would like to ask then please ask and I will try my best to help you.

Now that’s a great formula Ed. What everyone needs for sure in order to move their business in the right direction.

A mentor to me is like a teacher. Someone who shares with you how to have success from their own experiences and are there for you to ask questions. On top of that is the education to learn the skills you’ll need but applying what you’ve learned is so important. Most people want to wait and learn it all before taking action and that’s a huge mistake because we learn as we go too!

Very informative post, job well done. You’ve covered it all.

    Have a great weekend Ed!

      Thanks Adrienne,

I’ve done that in the past, thought that I would wait untill I knew it all. How wrong is that?

Hi Ed, I love the you put that MEAT and it’s absolutely right mate.

I was going in never ending circles until I got myself a mentor. I liken it to a dot to dot puzzle without the numbers. Meaning I never really had a complete picture of what i was meant to be doing or more importantly HOW I was meant to be doing it.

A mentor made all the difference and I’m now carving my way to success. After years sitting alone and trying to figure it all out I can’t tell you how good it feels to be finding some success.

Ed, you left a comment on my blog yesterday but unfortunately I changed hosting earlier this week and I thought it had propagated when i published the post. Unfortunately I got there today to see the post and all the comments had vanished :(

I’ve now put the post up again but can’t find your comment anywhere :( I really value your input so wonder if you’d mind coming back and making it again? Sorry to be a pain mate ;)

Thanks Ed, enjoy your weekend mate

When choosing to get into affliate marketing ,You want to think about sort term and long term goals.Personally creating Your Own Product and getting others to sell it ,I believe is your best choice. It may take a little more work and research but the rewards are well worth it.Creating your own product or services is not as hard as others make it seem.Simple find a need and fill it.write down all the things you’re good at and create a product around it.Keep it Simple.

      Hi Gabriellie,

Thanks for stopping by. Agreed to many people come into Affiliate Marketing not thinking about their long term goals just simply loooking to make a quick buck. It is all about planning. Yes one should research the market to see what users are looking for and need then produce a product to fill that need. That way we have a better chance of suceeding. Yes I fully agree with the K.I.S.S principles.

This is an important article, because when a beginner starts out, without any prior experience, it is almost impossible for him or her to make a good business plan. When I was starting out, I was absolutely clueless. I had a friend who had a friend who said he would help me. He was kind enough to introduce me to a very nifty employee monitor software I’ve been using ever since. We used it the other way round, so it helped me see what he was doing on his computer at his own home during the hours I was was paying for, so not only did I know exactly what I was spending my money on, but I could learn a few things by watching his actions. He set my website up, and gave me pointers for doing business online – what to believe, what to avoid, and such things. Without a set plan and a mentor I think I either wouldn’t have succeeded or it would’ve taken me much longer to do it.

      Hi Leonard,

Thanks for stopping by. Yes I agree it is very tough starting out. We make so many mistakes because we don’t know any better. Most of the time we are just thrashing around trying to find our way. I shall be introducing some free video tutorials to this site so viewers can look over my shoulder showing excactly what I’m doing, teaching how to build an online business.

  5. Hi Ed,

I like you suggestions for success. i think the one that has finally helped me to really see success is by having a mentor. My mentor is Jerry Russell and she never fails to keep me in check and keep me moving in the right direction.

I struggled for years making small commissions here and there, maybe because I just wasn’t taking action, or maybe I didn’t know which actions I needed to take. It can get confusing and frustrating, but a mentor will help you overcome that.

    Thanks,

      Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for stopping by. Yes I totally agree. If you want success in the quickest time possible, then you need a Mentor. You could possibly get there on you own but you will waste a lot of time reinventing the wheel. A good Mentor will help you overcome all those obstacles stopping you right now.

      Cheers,
      Ed.
