Do you get a lot of annoying emails?

What about all those emails you keep getting, aren’t they a right royal a pain in the bum? If you are like me then you may have subscribed to loads of guru’s list and other marketers. Now every… single… day someone is sending you an email trying to sell you something. Doesn’t just get on your nerves?

Well the truth is that you signed up to someones list, usually called a double optin list, giving them the rite to send you emails. Double optin because you had an email, what? not another one, sent to you, to which you clicked on the link authorizing that sender to send you emails. Wake up call! That’s what signing up, or also known as subscribing, to a list does.

Well if you are at the end of your tether well, fear not Ed to the rescue, here is an idea to try out. Change your view point. These emails are not the nuisance that you first thought. What did he just say? Did he just say what I thought he said? Yes I did. Try to look at it this way. These darn emails are an education. Yep that’s right. And they are free to boot.

The point is that some Guru or lesser Internet Marketer as possibly spent a small fortune on these emails. He/she has most likely paid a copy writer to produce compelling copy to entice you into reading more and further still go on and open and read their sales letter. Let us be clear here; have no doubt that the sales letter was professionally written as well. Think about it, how else are they going to sell you? Let’s not forget this is a business and it can be a very big and lucrative business. So now that we’ve got that little rant out of the way, here is the mind set change.

Review all of your emails from these Internet Marketers, yes I know that is tedious. I have read so many of these letters that I start to read then this compelling urge comes over me to go and commit Harri Kari. So I can sympathise with you here. But I digress. Pick the best ones, the ones that grab your attention. Was it the head line? Now read through the rest of the email. Is it compelling? Do you have the read on? Do you want to go and look at the sales page? If you want your readers to open your email then this is how it should read.

This is the free education I am talking about. Some big Guru or Internet Marketer has paid good money for this product, and yes it is a product. All part and parcel of your business. Now create a folder and save these emails in there. I think that we will call it Swipe Files. Now your next task is to learn from them. Educate yourself on how to create good compelling copy. You see! Those annoying emails are a blessing after all. And finally Unsubscribe from the all the other lists. I hope this helps. Let me know your thoughts, leave a comment and share you thoughts.

    Hi Ed,
I agree with you. I purposely signed up for dozens of newsletters by the top gurus just to learn how to write quality newsletters. The cool thing is that it is so easy to unsubscribe.

    take care…

      Hi Justin,
And welcome. Yeah I think that a lot of people did as we did and signed up to a lot of mailing lists. Trouble is all of that information, people telling you you should be doing this and others telling you should be doing that, can lead to information overload and inaction. You just don’t know which way to turn.

You are so right Ed, this is an expensive education that someone else purchased.

You may find all these pitches annoying but if you signed up for their list then you agreed to receive them. So take a good look at them, see what is pulling you in and use these same tactics yourself when you get ready to pitch to your list as well. What better and free way to really get a fabulous education on copywriting. How do you think these top income earners learned copywriting? Yep that’s right, I’ve heard many of them confess this was the way.

Great post and hope others will take notice of what they may be missing out on.

      Hi Farouk and welcome
Yep I know the feeling well. But try out what I’ve suggested. It does work, and it’ s great way to get free training.

    Hi Ed,

You make an extremely good point mate. These people are paying a high price for some copy writer to write the emails and by using their format you can save yourself loads of money.

One thing I do is use a dummy email account to sign up for them with and then it doesn’t interfere with my work with my main email program pinging all day 🙂

When I find a proper guru that I want to listen to I go back and changfe my subscription details 🙂

Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year mate

    Take care, Barry
